European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE) is an alliance of 127 organisations in 40 countries with a secretariat in Brussels. It works to promote the rights of refugees, asylum seekers and other forcibly displaced persons in Europe and in European external policies. PIC – Legal Center for the Protection of Human Rights and the Environment is ECRE’s member since 2017.

PIC contributes to responses, legal opinions and campaigns on EU legislative proposals or policies on asylum and migration. As part of the Asylum Information Database (AIDA), PIC produces annual reports aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of asylum and migration legislation and practice. The annual reports provide a comprehensive description of the asylum procedure as well as the accommodation, reception and access to rights of applicants for international protection. The reports are intended as a tool for asylum and migration practitioners to obtain information on the functioning of asylum systems in 23 European countries.

PIC is also involved in the European Legal Asylum Network (ELENA) as the coordinator for Slovenia. PIC lawyers provide legal advice and information on the functioning of the Slovenian asylum system to lawyers from all over Europe in the framework of the ELENA Forum.
