We cooperate with the Ombudsman in the implementation of the National Preventive Mechanism (DPM). PIC – Legal Center for the Protection of Human Rights and the Environment carries out preventive visits to places of deprivation of liberty to check the treatment of persons deprived of their liberty. The purpose of the visits is to strengthen protection against torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
PIC carries out several annual visits, producing a report on its findings and recommendations for correcting the irregularities or making suggestions for improving the situation in each institution.
