PIC – Legal Center for the Protection of Human Rights and the Environment is implementing an international project Strategic Litigation and Environmental Rights – STELLAR Rights that is part of the European Union program CERV (Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values).
The project aims to imbue the Slovenian public with knowledge about applying rights under the EU Charter on Fundamental Rights in climate and energy policy.
The project involves nine international partners. The main beneficiary of the project is Justice & Environment. Its members from Bulgaria, Estonia, Hungary, Austria, Croatia, Czechia and Slovenia, and a non-member from Poland will implement the project in 2024–2026.
The project will research existing legal instruments and assess their implementation from member states. We will strive to share knowledge among EU citizens about procedural rights from the EU Charter and Aarhus Convention, their available remedies, and their application in climate and energy matters. Main activities of the project will encompass:
- research EU energy and climate policy law provisions;
- research national legal documents about the rights from the EU Charter in energy and climate policy;
- holding training and a national legal conference for civil society organisations and legal practitioners about the application of EU Charter rights;
- closing international conference.
We communicate individual steps of the project on PIC’s website and Facebook page.
The project is funded by the EU.
