They are the most exposed to violations of human rights.
PIC provides refugees and migrants with legal assistance and support to help them navigate their status, access their social and economic rights, and create a decent life in Slovenia. We aim to achieve the highest level of protection for people fleeing or migrating by advocating for changing laws, policies, and practices.
Our main activities are therefore focused on advocacy, representation, legal advice and legal aid. We are involved in the processes of adopting legislation and regulations in order to ensure that international and European standards for the protection of refugees and migrants are respected as well as to eliminate systemic weaknesses.
Through studies, reports and analyses, we actively monitor international protection and migration and systemic weaknesses. Furthermore, we highlight good practices.
We provide legal help to individuals in international protection, temporary protection, family reunification, return and other migration procedures.
Since 2020 PIC has the status of an organisation that works in the public interest in the field of migration.
PIC is also an active member of the following European networks that work in the field of international protection and migration:
- European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE);
- European Legal Network on Asylum (ELENA);
- Asylum Information Database (AIDA);
- CROSIIT network that includes non-governmental organisations from Slovenia, Croatia and Italy;
- ENS – European Network on Statlessness;
